Emergency crews were called to 53rd Street North and Porter, on the report of a man jumping into the Little Arkansas River.

It happened shortly before 5:30 p.m. Sunday when a driver spotted a man jump into the river and thought he didn't resurface. Wichita Police Sgt. Ed Brower says Wichita firefighters and rescue teams were called to the scene.

Sgt. Brower says while crews were setting up to begin their search of the Little Arkansas, residents in the neighborhood approached the police and let them know that there was a resident that regularly jumps into the river.

Police made contact with the man who lives in the 4800 block of North Seneca and cited him for jumping into the river during high water.
