Malaysian plane mystery used to spread computer viruses

WICHITA, Kan. - If you're on your computer these days, it's hard not to be bombarded with messages, news articles, and speculation about the missing Malaysian airlines jet.

But this week, a shocking Facebook link promising found video footage of the plane's passengers caught many by surprise and sent something else flying around the world.....a computer virus.

""It's claiming that a plane's been found," says Denise Groene, State Director of the Kansas Better Business Bureau. "You click the link, it takes you to a third-party website. It has you update what they consider your flash player. And what you don't realize is that you're now downloading malware on to your computer."

It's a sad statement that breaking news stories have been a favorite target for virus scammers for years now.

They're counting on your curiosity, to kill your computer.
