Maize school superintendent Doug Powers was not selected to be the next superintendent of an Arkansas school district.
Powers had interviewed for the job at Fayetteville Public Schools earlier this month, and was considered one of two finalists along with Dr. Paul Hewitt.
Today, the Fayetteville Board of Education picked Hewitt to serve as superintendent of schools.
Hewitt is an associate professor of Educational Leadership in the University of Arkansas College of Education and Health Professions, and previously spent 17 years as a superintendent.
The superintendent of Maize USD 266 is a finalist for a job in Arkansas.
Various news outlets in Arkansas report Doug Powers interviewed for the position of Fayetteville superintendent this week. Powers is one of four candidates interviewed, however, two of those interviewed said they are no longer candidates for the opening.
Powers has been with the Maize school district since 2009. He previously served as superintendent of Marysville, Kansas schools.
