Lyons Man Hit, Killed By Car After Hitting Deer

A Lyons man was hit and killed by a car Friday evening while he was outside of his SUV after hitting a deer in Rice County.

It happened around 7:45 p.m. at 24th Road and Avenue Q, which is about 11 miles southeast of Lyons. The Kansas Highway Patrol said 32-year-old Boe Keesling was standing outside of his Acura SUV after hitting a deer when he and his vehicle were hit by an oncoming Chevy passenger car.

Keesling was pronounced dead at the scene. His 31-year-old passenger was not hurt.

The 33-year-old driver of the Chevy was not harmed. His four passengers, ages 33, 9, 9 and 2, were taken to a Lyons hospital for possible injuries. Their current conditions were not available.
