Students in a small Kansas town were forced to spend their recess indoors, due to the threat of a loose alligator.
It happened in Caldwell, about 40 miles south of Wichita, Wednesday morning.
Alan Jamison, USD 360 Superintendent, said a pet alligator escaped about a block away from the elementary school.
The alligator has been spotted a couple of times around the school, but no one has been hurt.
Cody Rierson, Elementary Principal, said the school was never on lock down.
The district sent a note home to notify parents about the incident.
The reptile is about four-feet long. Anyone with information on its whereabouts should call Sumner County authorities at 620-326-2884.
