LAREDO, Tex. - Casey Harman pitched eight strong innings to lead the Laredo Lemurs past the Wichita Wingnuts 3-2, in game two of the American Association semifinals.
Harman gave the Lemurs eight innings on the hill and only allowed two runs. The left-hander surrendered five hits, walked two and struck out four to earn the win, which evened the semifinal series at one game each.
Laredo gained a quick run in the first inning, when Byron Wiley singled home Travis Denker. The Lemurs added another run in the third on an RBI ground out by JP Ramirez, and tacked on a third run in the sixth on an RBI single by Denis Phipps.
Wichita rallied in the seventh when Carlo Testa slammed a two-run homer. But that long ball was all Wichita could muster. After Harman’s night ended, Caleb Graham finished off the game with a scoreless ninth.
The best-of-five series resumes in Wichita Saturday evening, with all remaining games at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
