WICHITA, Kan. — Police are searching for a suspect who ran from the scene of a crash on Kellogg that left a woman seriously hurt.
Around 8:15 Tuesday morning, there was a minor-injury crash in the eastbound lanes of Kellogg near the Meridian exit. Traffic was moving slowly in the area, but police say the driver of a red truck didn't slow down and rear-ended a gray SUV. That caused a chain reaction as the SUV then struck a van, which rear-ended another vehicle.
Police say the man who was driving the red truck got out and ran away. That truck had been reported stolen.
A woman in her 40s who was driving the SUV was seriously hurt and rushed to a local hospital. Her current condition is unknown.
A witness working security at Newman University saw the man run away and was able to provide a description to police. Officers are still searching.
All eastbound lanes of Kellogg near the accident were closed for about two hours, but have since reopened.
