ELLIS, Kan. -- A Wakeeney, Kan., man was killed early Sunday morning in a rollover crash.
It happened at 1:30 a.m. on Highway 40, just west of the Trego/Ellis county line. The Kansas Highway Patrol said a Chevy Impala was heading west on 40 Road when the driver left the pavement and lost control. The car rolled, coming to rest in a ditch.
A passenger in the backseat died at the scene. He was been identified as 20-year-old Ryan Schrant. Reports state he was not wearing a seatbelt.
The 20-year-old driver and three other passengers, ages 20, 20 and 21, were taken to a hospital in Hays with possible injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
