Kim Janzen has announced plans to resign as President/CEO of the Kansas Humane Society. Janzen, who joined the Kansas Humane Society in 2003, is moving to Raleigh, NC, to serve as Executive Director for the SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) of Wake County in Raleigh. She will leave Wichita in October.

“It is an understatement to say that Kim has been a driving force in the growth and success of the organization for the past 10 years. Through her leadership, Kim has moved KHS and the entire Wichita community forward on many different levels. We will benefit from her influence for many years to come,” said Margaret Dechant, Kansas Humane Society board chair.

The Kansas Humane Society’s Board of Directors is establishing an executive search committee to identify the organization’s next leader. Karla Hartlep, Kansas Humane Society director of operations, will serve as Interim CEO.

Janzen stated, “The last 10 years have been the most rewarding and fulfilling years of my career. It has been a true privilege to be a part of this organization’s transformation.”
