His high school teachers say 21 year old Keith Ancell had an infectious smile and was ready to help others at a moment's notice.

Now they're in shock that the young man was shot and killed Monday in the nearby town of Lincoln.

Ancell grew up in Sylvan Grove. Ryan Batchman taught Ancell in elementary school then coached him in football and track in high school.

Batchman says, "He always had a smirk and a smile on his face and he was just a fantastic kid." "It's more of shock than sadness right now because in small town America things like this just don't happen."

But sadly it did happen in the early morning hours Monday in Lincoln. 33 year old Scott Weigel was arrested on 2nd degree warrant charges. HIs first court appearance is scheduled for 2:pm Wednesday in the Lincoln County courthouse.

Sylvan-Lucas teacher Linda Haring had Ancell in her English classes four years and knows the family. Haring says, "The family is a big part of the community. And so when you lose a part of your family it hurts."

She says, "He touched all of us with what he did for us. We need to remember him and what a positive influence he was on this school."
