It did not take long for a lot of KU fans to move from Kansas City's Sprint Center to the Power and Light District right across the street to celebrate the Jayhawks' 70-58 win over North Carolina Sunday in the NCAA Championship.
Fans who did not head out celebrate the win headed home, but many of them are making travel plans. Their team takes on No. 4 Michigan next Friday in the Sweet 16 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
At halftime, the Jayhawks' trip to Arlington was not a done deal. Kansas trailed North Carolina 30-21 at the break.
A dominating offensive performance in the second half, led by Travis Releford with 22 points, propelled the Jayhawks past the Tar Heels, which secured KU's third-straight trip to the Sweet 16.
