A Reno County judge lowers bond for a Hutchinson man held in connection to a conspiracy.
Matthew Barnes made his first appearance in district court Thursday morning. Prosecutors officially charged Barnes with conspiracy to commit robbery during an incident June 2 or 3.
He was arrested last week and was being held on a $500,000 bond.
Barnes' attorney asked Judge Randy McEwen for a reduced bond, due to the nature of the charges. The judge lowered the amount to $300,000.
Two other suspects made first appearances in court Wednesday. Kylie Hartman and Jason Casanova remain jailed on $100,000 and $150,000 bonds.
Prosecutors said they believe the suspects may be involved in another crime. Officials would not speculate whether the defendants could be connected to Jenny Heckel's unsolved murder.
She was found shot to death inside her Hutchinson home June 14. No arrests have been made.
