A crash between a semi-truck and a pickup south of Jetmore Saturday sent two people to hospitals.
It happened around 6:15 a.m. on U283 about 4 miles south of Jetmore. The Kansas Highway Patrol says Francisco Erives-Maldanado was driving his pickup truck north on U283, when he crossed the center line.
The truck driver, Jimmy McGuire of Glenn Elder, swerved to try to avoid the crash, but his semi was struck on the right front passenger side. It then caught on fire.
Erives-Maldanado was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita for treatment, where he remains in critical condition. McGuire was transported to the hospital in Jetmore for treamtent of minor injuries.
The accident closed U283 for nearly 7 hours, but it has since been reopened..
