UPDATE

Deputies shut down Interstate 35 in Johnson County, Kan., for several hours Friday night because of a shooting.

The Johnson County Sheriff's Office says a gunman was firing at the highway near Edgerton Road about 8 p.m. and hit a person.

Deputies closed a nine-mile stretch of the interstate, from K-33 to Gardner Road.

Paramedics transported a man to a Kansas City hospital, but did not describe his injuries. A passenger and three children in the vehicle were not hurt.

Deputies have not released any information about the gunman.

The highway reopened about 1:15 a.m. Saturday.

Both north and southbound lanes of Interstate 35 have been shut down south of Gardner in Johnson County after a shooting this evening.

It happened around 8 p.m. near Edgerton Road.

The Johnson County Sheriff's Office says a gunman was firing and hit one person. Deputies have closed a nine-mile stretch of the interstate to investigate.

Information about neither the victim nor the gunman has been released.
