An autopsy will be performed on a Sedgwick County inmate who died while being housed in Sumner County.

A release from the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Department said 59-year-old Edward Ray Dixson was taken to a local hospital Tuesday morning where he was pronounced dead of apparent natural causes.

Dixson was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail in June on two felony warrants.

An autopsy has been completed, although lab results are expected to take several weeks.

Sedgwick County Detention Facility has booked more than 18,000 people this year. This is the second inmate to die of natural causes while in sheriff's custody in 2013.
