The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is working to determine how an inmate died at a western Kansas jail.

According to the Syracuse Journal, an inmate was found unresponsive in his cell Sunday afternoon at the Hamilton County Jail. Steven Ray Holloway, 49, of Syracuse was soon after pronounced dead.

An autopsy was scheduled to be performed yesterday, but those results are not yet available. Per state statute, the KBI investigates all in-custody deaths.

Holloway had been in custody since September 14 on an Oklahoma warrant.
