Authorities have released a description of one of the suspects. He iss described as approximately 40 years of age, 6 feet tall, and 200 lbs. The men were driving a newer gray or black truck with an extended cab.
Derby Police say the men told a reside they needed to check for hot spots inside of the home. The man went room to room turning light switches on and off. He also touched a breaker box and then faked being shocked, according to police.
The other man went into the attic and claimed to find a chewed cable. The men left after the homeowner called an electrician.
Anyone who may be able to identify the suspects is aske to contact the Derby Police Department at 788-1557. If you encounter a similar situation, ask the utility worker for identification or call the appropriate utility company to confirm the identity of the person.

Westar Energy received a report today of a man knocking on doors and asking to enter homes in the Derby area claiming to be a Westar Energy employee performing home electricity audits. The man does not work for Westar Energy or any partner company.
All Westar Energy employees carry company identification and would provide credentials. Many employees also wear clothing with the Westar Energy logo. If you are suspicious about a claim, ask to see Westar Energy employee identification.
Customers may also call the Westar Energy Customer Relations Center at 1-800-383-1183 to verify that an employee has been sent to their home or business. If verification is denied, customers should contact local law enforcement to report the incident.
