Two people have been arrested accused of identity theft stemming from 10 different cases.

Police arrested the suspects after an alert citizen notified 911 about suspicious activity in the 1300 block of E. Mt. Vernon around 11 p.m. Sunday.

A witness told officers that a U-Haul truck was in the neighborhood, trying to steal mail. Authorities found the truck, and arrested the driver, a 26-year-old man, and a passenger, a 22-year-old woman. A one-year-old baby was taken into police protective custody.

Investigators found a small amount of methamphetamine, marijuana, forged checks, mail and money orders inside the truck.

Police said some of the victims had addresses in El Dorado, Sawyer, Leon and Columbia, Mo.

Officials do not believe the couple had been breaking into homes.
