WICHITA, Kan-- Monday 9:55 a.m. 2600 block of South Hiram

81-year-old woman receives a call from someone claiming to be her oldest grandson. The caller said he'd been in an accident in Mexico and she needed to send him money. The woman asked the caller to state his mother's maiden name. When the caller couldn't do it he hung up.

Monday 11:09 a.m. 2000 W. Ventoso

Woman reports getting several phone calls from someone saying they can fix her computer over the phone by providing her password. The caller said they would remove a virus and there would be no charge.

Monday 7:20 p.m. 1100 N. Valleyview.

A 78-year-old woman gets a call from someone claiming to be the attorney for her grandson. The caller said her grandson was arrested out of state. At one point, the caller let the woman talk to a person she believed was her grandson. The woman made two payments to the caller with prepaid cards before she realized it was a scam.
