I-Team Scam Alert: Wichita scam reports

WICHITA, Kan Tuesday 9:02 a.m. 1700 N. Smarsh

79-year-old man receives a phone call from someone claiming to be his grandson. The caller said he had been in an accident, was in jail and needed money for bail. The victim verified his grandson was still at home. The call came from a blocked phone number.

Tuesday 10:45 a.m. 700 S. Barlow

An 18-year-old woman gets a phone call from someone who said he was an investigator. The caller said if she didn't pay he would pick her up on warrants. The woman called the warrant office and was told she had no warrants.

Tuesday 12:48 p.m. 1200 S. Longfellow

Someone called a man claiming to be an employee of a computer company. The caller asked for access to a computer due to a problem with a virus. The victim didn't allow access and verified it was not his internet provider calling.
