Hutchinson Man Arrested, Accused Of Abduction And Rape

Police have arrested a man accused of abducting a woman from a grocery store parking lot and raping her. It happened just before 8:45 a.m. Friday in Hutchinson.

Officials say the suspect found the victim's vehicle left unlocked in Dillons parking lot in the 700 block of East 4th Street. When the victim got back into her vehicle after shopping, she found the man inside waiting for her.

Police say the man forced the woman to drive to the 300 block of East 6th Street where he sexually assaulted her and then ran away. Police found the man a short time later in a home in the 700 block of East 3rd Street.

Craig L. Gooch, 27, was arrested and charged with aggravated kidnapping, rape, aggravated sexual battery, aggravated burglary and interference with a law enforcement officer. He is currently in jail on a $161,500 bond.
