Home Heavily Damaged By Fire In Northwest Wichita

A home in Northwest Wichita has significant Damage following a fire Saturday evening.

It happened shortly after 6 p.m. in the 1700 block of North Womer Road, near 13 and McLean Blvd. Acting Battalion Chief Mike Wells said crews were already nearby checking on the report of an explosion and were able to quickly get to the scene.

When they arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames in a bedroom, hallway and bathroom. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

A damage estimate wasn't available at the scene, but Wells says there is significant damage to the rooms the fire was confined too and smoke damage throughout the house.

No one was hurt. The Red Cross was called to the scene to assist the family.
