Wichita Police are searching for the driver responsible for a series of wrecks in West Wichita Saturday evening.
A total of five different vehicles were struck within just a few minutes of each other starting in the 400 block of Ridge Road. Wichita Police Sgt. Jim Merrick tells KAKE News that a man driving a Maroon 1997 Cadillac rear-ended a truck waiting to make a left turn.
Sgt. Merrick says the driver tried to flee at a high speed but lost control and spun into the northbound lanes of Ridge, colliding with another vehicle.
The man continued driving south, even as his hood was in the air. "With the hood flying up, the man struck a mailbox." Said Sgt. Merrick at the scene.
It didn't stop there. The Cadillac went back onto the road and tried to pass another car, hitting another vehicle head-on, before striking yet another car.
In all, five cars were struck. Seven people were hurt, but none received serious injuries.
Sgt. Merrick says police believe they know who the driver is and are working to locate him.
