A Herington man is dead after officials say his car flipped over multiple times in Geary County.

A passerby spotted the single vehicle crash on US-77 just south of Junction City (near mile marker 149) around 6 AM Sunday and called 911.

Geary County Undersheriff Tony Wolf says the driver, 39-year-old Brian Laughrey, was alone in his Dodge truck and headed towards Herington when he lost control of his vehicle for some reason, causing it to roll over 4-5 times before it struck a tree on the shoulder. Wolf says Laughrey was thrown from the truck and was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner from multiple blunt force injuries.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation by Geary County detectives, pending an autopsy.
