Spirit Aerosystems has hundreds of openings for factory production workers.

The aerospace supplier is having a job fair Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Spirit Employment Center at 3420 South Oliver. That's south of 31st and Oliver.

Spirit spokesman Jarrod Bartlett says, "Spirit is experiencing record demand for our products from our customers. In order to meet that record demand we're going to be hiring hundreds of employees throughout the remainder of this year so we can make sure we can build a high quality product and deliver it to our customer on time."

Bartlett says production on the Boeing 737 and 787 lines are ramping up to record rates. The 737 now at the 38 a month rate will be at the 42 a month rate by the end of the year. The 787 Dreamliner will go from seven to ten planes a month soon.

Bartlett says the hiring needs include for mechanics, machine operators and quality inspectors.

He says the company is seeking qualified candidates with at least six months experience but will entertain those who have related skills which might be transferable with additional training.
