WICHITA, Kan. - A public hearing will reintroduce plans for changing bus service in west Wichita, for visiting places such as the Sedgwick County Zoo and the New Market Square area.

Wichita Transit plans to end the Westside Connector route (#19) in mid-April. But two new routes would develop in its place.

The West Maple circuit (#1) would be extended. Right now it goes past Towne West Square and Mid-Continent Airport. And a new West Central bus route would be created. The original vision offered last October had it running from downtown Wichita to New Market Square, around 21st and Maize. The hearing should reveal if anything has been adjusted.

The hearing also will discuss a new Neighborhood Feeder Service on the west side. Small buses would take you from your block to a bus stop.

The public hearing begins at 4:30 p.m. at the Wichita Transit office, 777 East Waterman.
