Haysville, Kan. -- Voters in Haysville will decide today whether or not to approve a 1% sales tax increase.
The tax is intended to generate funds for street and park improvements in Haysville. City officials say, the number of city streets have increased 14% over the past nine years and the costs of repairs and improvements have also increased.
If passed, the tax would, in part, help the city with the expansion of Meridian Avenue, the North Main Street reconstruction and street improvements that need immediately addressed. It would also fund park improvement and expansion, including the park and pond development on 79th Street.
The tax fund could also allow for expanded programs at the Haysville Activity Center and allow for expansion and improvement.
