Hawker Beechcraft's Wichita employment has fallen below a state support threshold, the planemaker announced today.
HBC reported it had 3,372 employees in Kansas at the end of 2012. That places the company below the 3,600 threshold in the original agreement with the state, Sedgwick County and the City of Wichita.
Hawker Beechcraft was extended $45 million in incentives to stay in Wichita. The agreement announced December 22, 2010 included an employment threshold the company was not to fall below. In a statement, Hawker Beechcraft said its payment has been reduced accordingly.
“This company and its people remain committed to being successful in Wichita,” Hawker Beechcraft chairman Bill Boisture said. “We have stabilized the company and believe we are well positioned for growth in the future.”
