Cole A. Augustyn, the 19-year-old Harper man who was hospitalized in critical condition after an ATV accident early Saturday, has died.

A 19-year-old Harper man is in critical condition at a Wichita hospital after he was injured in an ATV accident early Saturday.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Cole A. Augustyn, 19, of Harper, was being pursued by Harper police south bound on northeast 10th Avenue when he drove a Polaris ATV into a a field entrance approaching Central Street and went into a ditch.

The ATV then went airborne across the road and hit the ditch on the west side. The driver was ejected landing face down and the vehicle ended up in the field.

He was airlifted to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis where a hospital spokesman said he remains in critical condition Saturday.

He was not wearing a helmet.
