WICHITA, Kan. -- "Chris" has a good job as a supervisor in the aircraft industry in Wichita. He never expected to get the kind of phone call he received last month.
"The man identified himself as a sheriff here in town and said he was processing a bench warrant for my arrest at the time, for missing jury duty", Chris says.
Chris says the man on the phone said he had to go buy a GreenDot MoneyPak card, put 500 dollars on it, and then read the card number to him over the phone.
Chris fell victim to the GreenDot scam, one that's cost Wichita consumers about 14-thousand dollars in the last two months
"It was an hour and ten minute long phone call. He was very cool, calm, very convincing," Chris says.
