A grass fire west of Rose Hill is threatening nearby homes. At around 4:00 p.m., units were dispatched to the area of South 127th Street East and 71st Street South.
Traffic has been blocked off near 127th and Dove Hill St. while crews work the fire. The spreading fire has put homes in the area in danger.
Laura Hill, who lives in the area, tells us the fire broke through a hedge row and onto neighboring properties. In reference to firefighters who worked the fire, she says, "They are just amazing; they were here right away."
One Rose Hill firefighter suffered heat exhaustion and was checked out by EMS. He was not hospitalized.
The fire was reportedly brought under control at around 5:00 p.m.
