Goddard, Kan. -- The Goddard City Council has voted to approve STAR bonds for a major sports development in their community.
The estimated $71 million dollar project would develop an Olympic sports training facility on the city's east side. The facility would include a competition quality pool with seating for over 1,000, baseball diamonds and other facilities for sports.
The project also includes a hotel with retail and restaurant space. The project would need final approval from the state before moving forward.
City Administrator Brian Silcott says the city council approved the bond in a 4-0 vote, with one member absent.
