A cut gas line in a construction area on the east side Wichita State University's Rhatigan Student Center prompted evacuations Thursday afternoon.
Crews arrived on scene just after 2:30 p.m. and discovered the 6-inch high-pressure gas line had been severed. The line was reportedly capped around 4:00 p.m.
The Student Center, Elliot Hall, the Geology building, Jardine Hall, and the Human Resources building were evacuated but have since been cleared.
The Rhatigan was hosting an open house regarding updates to the student center's renovation project when the gas line was cut.
