WICHITA, Kan.-- Friends of the couple killed in yesterday's shooting speak out for the first time.

"I would just like to thank everybody, everybody who donated," said Maybee Chitanavong, godmother of five-month-old Carsen Pham.

Pham's parents, Trinh and Sean, were shot and killed in their home in southeast Wichita on Tuesday morning. Trinh's mother, Tuyet Huynh, was also killed. Vinh Nguyen, 41, was arrested and booked on capital murder. Officers describe Nguyen as Huynh's boyfriend.

"It's really hard for everybody right now. We're just lost for words," said Nathan Thammavongsa, Carsen's godfather.

The couple was described as fun, loving, and passionate. The godparents said the couple were high school sweethearts at Wichita East High.

"They're both two very beautiful people, inside and out, and having Carsen made them ten times better," said Chitanavong.

Since the online fundraiser was created on Tuesday, more than 400 people have donated and helped raise more than $20,000.

Chitanavong said donations will help pay for three funerals and other expenses that will be needed to raise Carsen.

"Just seeing the love and the support from strangers, from family, from friends, it means so much to the families of all three," said Chitanavong.
