A man with outstanding warrants is behind bars in Reno County following a manhunt that began around 9 p.m. Monday night.
The Reno County Sheriff's Office says dispatchers received a phone call from a home owner in the 10000 block of Paganica Ct. who reported that 38 year-old Brandon Sutton had just been at his home.
Deputies and the Kansas Highway Patrol responded to the area because they were aware Sutton had outstanding warrants for his arrest. A KHP helicopter was called to the area to assist in the search.
The search was called off after no sign of Sutton. Deputies and troopers returned to the Highlands area Tuesday to continue to search and discovered a campsite they believed he had been using.
Around 10:30 a.m. authorities received at tip that Sutton had been dropped off at 82nd and Plum and was walking towards Nickerson. Authorities Took Sutton into custody a short time later in the 700 block of West Nickerson Blvd.
Sutton, who had previously been out on bond, had been arrested in connection to a series of burglaries in the Nickerson area. Back in early January, Sutton was arrested on four counts of burglary, five counts of felony theft and three counts of criminal damage to property.
In that case, approximately $26,500 worth of property was recovered and returned to the owners.
