Friends of Linda and Jeff Gleason remember them as fun, loving and very caring people. They were killed in a tornado Tuesday evening near St. John.
The sheriff says Linda, her 17 year-old son Jeff and her 21 year-old daughter Kristen had pulled off highway 281 just north of St. John to take cover from the storm. A tornado touched down, uprooting a huge cottonwood tree. It fell on the Gleason's car, killing Linda and Jeff. Kristen received minor injuries.
Friends say Linda and Jeff were both very involved in the community and their church in St. John. Jeff was very musically talented, singing and participating in school musicals.
He was also a 4.0 student ready to start his senior year in the fall.
"If it was up to Jeff he would run the music program here," said Principal Mike Burgan. He said Jeff was a leader and everyone liked him.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
