The Kansas Mission of Mercy volunteers served 1,650 patients with $1.14 million in care during the two-day dental clinic last week.

Organizers of the free dental clinic at the Kansas Pavilions hoped to treat 2,000 patients.

"Some procedures, oral surgery for example, take longer to perform. We are very pleased with the number of patients we treated and the total amount of care we provided," said Greg Hill, executive director of the Kansas Dental Charitable Foundation.

Next year, the Mission of Mercy dental clinic will be held in Dodge City, Feb. 28-March 1.

About 2,200 Kansans expected to get free dental care this weekend that amount to a million dollars in services.

The "Kansas Mission of Mercy" dental clinic will be held Friday and Saturday at the Kansas Pavilions (the former Kansas Coliseum) in Park City.

Dental professionals from across Kansas will volunteer their services to provide fillings, cleanings and extractions on a first come, first served basis.

This is the tenth year for the clinic, which has provided free service for hundreds of Kansans. Doors open each day at 5:30 a.m.
