A Sedgwick County judge has found a former Wichita Police officer guilty of sex crimes for fondling his own children.

Last year, Joseph McGill was charged with indecent liberties with a child. Investigators said the crimes occurred while the children lived with McGill three years ago.

It's believed the allegations were uncovered through McGill's probation process for previous crimes. In 2011, McGill was charged with sexual battery and aggravated sexual battery while on duty as a Wichita Police Officer for touching two women. After pleading guilty, he was given 36 months probation and left the police department.

During a preliminary hearing last June, McGill's estranged wife testified that he admitted to fondling the couple's daughters, ages 3 months and 1-year-old in the shower.

McGill was bound over and waived his right to a jury trial, and was found guilty during a bench trial this afternoon.

Jared Cerullo was in the courtroom for the trial and will have much more on KAKE News at 5 and 6.
