A former Sedgwick County jailer accused of raping inmates pleaded not guilty in court this morning.
At the end of a preliminary hearing last week, Sedgwick County District Court Judge Joseph Bribiesca ruled there was enough evidence to send 23-year-old David Kendall to trial. Kendall is accused of sexually assaulting six inmates in the Sedgwick County jail between April and June of 2012.
During an arraignment hearing Friday morning, the former jailer pleaded not guilty to the original 12 charges he was facing. The judge also added an additional charge of criminal solicitation to commit unlawful sexual relations to the list, and Kendall entered a not guilty plea on that as well.
Kendall remains jailed, and his trial date has been scheduled for October 21.
