WICHITA, Kan. — Police were able to make an arrest in a couple of recent burglary cases because the suspect didn't cover his tracks.

Around 10:30 a.m. Thursday, a 24-year-old woman who lives in the 1700 block of South Erie found a man in her home. When she confronted him, he left. Neither she nor her one-year-old daughter were hurt.

When officers arrived, they followed the suspect's footprints to a home about a block away in the 2800 block of East Osie. There, they located an 18-year-old suspect and took him into custody.

Officers then followed additional prints from that house to another home in the 1200 block of South Laura, which had been burglarized earlier that morning. The front door had been forced open and jewelry was missing. Some of those items were later found at the suspect's house.

The 18-year-old has been booked into jail for aggravated burglary
