More people are considering buying flood insurance after seeing devastating flooding in Colorado.
Sedgwick County Emergency Management Director Randy Duncan says what you pay for flood insurance depends on where you live.
"Yes, you can get flood insurance whether you live in the floodplain or not," said Duncan. "And like any type of insurance, where your risk is less, the premiums tend to be less as well."
Duncan says the web site www.floodsmart.gov can give you a good idea what flood insurance costs.
Some local insurance agents write policies underwritten by the National Flood Insurance program through FEMA.
