A three-vehicle crash in Western Kansas injured five people.
It happened around 12:45 p.m. at the intersection of US 83 and Highway 56 just west of Sublette. The Kansas Highway Patrol says a Texas couple were driving south on US 83 ran the stop sign at Highway 56, colliding with a car driven by a Plainville woman.
The two cars then collided with a northbound car.
The Texas couple in the first car were taken to Southwest Medical Center in Liberal for treatment. The two Plaineville residents in the second car, 65-year-old Paula Jean Rathbun and 54-year-old Mark Rathbun, were taken to Santanta District hospital for treatment.
Three children in the third car were not hurt, but 38-year-old Keely Blackwood of Liberal, was transported to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita for treatment of serious injuries.
Wesley did not have her condition immediately available Saturday evening. Both lanes of U.S. 83 at Highway 56 were closed for several hours while troopers investigated the accident.
