Topeka, KS -- An abandoned, historic church suffered extensive damage after a fire broke out Sunday morning.

It happened near downtown Topeka in the 1600 block of Harrison. Our sister-station WIBW reports that the building was fully involved when crews arrived on scene.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The building was a local historic landmark, but Topeka's city council voted in August to demolish it.
