WICHITA, Kan. - Several people had to evacuate a south Wichita duplex early Thursday, after a fire broke out.
The building near Osie and Main appeared to have substantial damage, but no dollar amount has been released.
The fire started around 1:30 a.m. Early reports indicated people were in the streets, trying to put out a fire which may have started from a rear room.
Battalion Chief Tom Carney says firefighters "went in, made a quick attack on it and confined the fire to the room of origin."
The fire started in a side of the duplex which was empty. Six people evacuated from the other side. No one was injured.
The cause of the fire was not clear right away.
