Fire causes extensive damage to Park City home

Parck City, Kan. -- Investigators are working to determine what sparked a house fire in Park City.

The fire was reported around 3:15 in the 5100 block of North Valentine near 53rd Street N. and Broadway. When crews arrived they found heavy flames coming from the home.

Sedgwick County fire Division Chief Carl Cox say the fire started on the outside back deck and winds pushed the flames inside of the home. Three people inside the home escaped safely, but one dog died in the fire.

A second dog was receiving emergency treatment at the scene.

Chief Cox says there is extensive damage to the back of the home and smoke damage throughout the house. A damage estimate was not available at the scene.

Wichita and Valley Center fire fighters assisted in battling the fire.
