WICHITA, Kan. — Wichita police are are investigating the shooting death of a 23-year-old woman outside a private club.
The shooting happened early Sunday morning at Phat Azz Bikes in the 1000 block of North Cleveland. The business is an after-hours club run by a biker group.
Around 3:15 a.m., police were called to the report of shots fired at the nightclub. When officers arrived, they found a woman on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the back of the head. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.
She's been identified as 23-year-old Kelsey L. Shaw.
Police say Shaw and two others had just arrived and were waiting in line outside the front door on the south side of the club. A disturbance was going on nearby, and soon after shots were fired toward the building from the street southeast of the club.
Several rounds hit a vehicle outside the club, and one hit Shaw. Police do not believe she was an intended target.
Prior to the shooting, police said two people had been kicked out of the club, but it's unclear if that was connected to the shooting.
