UPDATE: Friday, June 14, 2013

The owner of an Andover home where local and federal authorities swarmed earler this week has been charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

An affidavit states 58-year-old Gerald Beasley was charged Thursday.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said officers placed a house on North Piatt in Wichita under surveillance on Wednesday with the intent of serving a search warrant and seizing Beasley’s Lincoln Navigator. After stopping Beasley, police found him in possession of a .22 caliber handgun loaded with two bullets.

Wednesday morning, ATF and DEA agents along with Butler County Sheriff's deputies and Andover police officers swarmed a home in the 2000 block of Colt Court, which documents state is owned by Beasley.

In 1999, Beasley was convicted of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, a felony, and sentenced to 24 months in prison, the affidavit stated. He has also served time on forgery and drug charges.

There are still a lot of unanswered questions about why a group of federal agents swarmed an Andover neighborhood Wednesday morning.

ATF and DEA agents along with Butler County Sheriff's deputies and Andover police officers swarmed the 2000 block of Colt Court. We're told a Butler County Sheriff's tactical team made entry into a home there sometime this morning.

One neighbor tells us she tried to leave for work around nine A.M. and was told immediately to go back inside.

Representatives from the DEA and ATF tell us the operation was part of an ongoing joint federal investigation. They say only the U.S. attorney's office can give details on what they were investigating or the case in general.

A representative with the U.S. Attorney's office said can't release any details about the investigation yet, only that no criminal charges have been filed.
