ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. — Family and friends of a man killed in an officer-involved shooting are planning a vigil for this weekend.

Arkansas City resident Tayler Rock, 22, was shot and killed after the Cowley County sheriff's office say he dragged a deputy with his car during a traffic stop last Saturday.

More on that story can be found by clicking here.

According to Rock's family, an ex-girlfriend alerted police that Rock was driving under a suspended license. They also said that Rock did not have a weapon on him.

"Tayler did not have a gun, so this guy's life was not in jeopardy. Under no circumstance can you shoot a person five times while sitting in his car," said Darren Parke, Rock's stepfather.

A Facebook page titled Justice for Tayler has since formed, calling for justice in his death.

According to posts on the page, a cookout and vigil is scheduled for Saturday at 7 p.m. at Paris Park in Arkansas City.

Rock's funeral is Friday at 2 p.m., also in Arkansas City.

The shooting remains under investigation by the KBI. The deputy who shot Rock is on paid administrative leave, per protocol.
