A McPherson County Jail inmate is back in custody after briefly escaping custody over the weekend.

Undersheriff Jim Johnston tells KAKE News that 19-year-old Benjamin Dick was found unresponsive at the jail, Saturday. He was taken to the hospital by a corrections officer around 2 p.m.

At 6 p.m. a second female officer took the first officer's place at the hospital guarding the inmate. Dick fought with the second officer and eventually escaped.

The officer suffered a hairline fracture to her foot in the scuffle.

Officers searched for the inmate Saturday and Sunday. He was eventually captured by his bondsman and returned to the jail at 8 a.m. Monday morning.

Dick was originally in custody for felony theft and theft by deception. He is now facing charges of felony escape and aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer.
