EMPORIA, Kan. (AP) -- The Emporia City Commission approved tax abatement incentives for Hostess Brands planned expansion of the company's plant.
The Emporia Gazette reports Hostess plans to add a 36,000-square-foot warehouse for $3.5 million, add $24 million in equipment and make leasehold improvements of $2.5 million.
In exchange for the 10-year tax abatement, Hostess said it will create 50 full-time jobs with a total payroll of $1.5 million.
The Regional Development Association of East Central Kansas board of directors approved the agreement on Jan. 10.
No timeline has been announced for the expansion project.
